on my wiring harness (for my type car) theres two blacks, one to chassis ground, one to amp ground. im guessing the chassis ground will connect to the HU wires, but will the amp ground wire?

Knowing your car type would help.. Knowing if you know if there is an amp from the car manufacturer (some systems have amps that you might not know about it)..
I think it's safe to say it's NOT for you sub amps, that wire isn't gonna hold much current..
