will this work with my ford taurus 2005 SEL edition with auto climate control (digital buttons vs. the knobs for AC)

or would there be anything extra i need,

right now i am setup with a line out converter. just need more clean power bc it distorts

no. that won't work because you have a digital climate control system.

you need this:

so you have a LOC feeding an amp? the factory radio and LOC provide a signal to the amp. the amp provides the power. if you need more power, you need a larger amp, or to properly set the gains. i'm not sure a head unit swap will solve the problem you have, though it will help in other ways.

that indeed is the kit you need. and adding an aftermarket radio will make a huge difference. those ford radio's distort and actually reach a bass "max" at about 1/3 of total volume. completely terrible.
