Wiring for a trailer help!!!

Ok, so its not directly related to car audio but indirectly it is!

Here is what I want... I want lights on the trailer that i can use as turn signlas but when i hit the brake wont light up, any Ideas? also this needs to be using a standard 4 pin flat plug setup... Im thinking that it should be possible using relays since you can use the fact the when i hit the brakes both right and left turnsignals will want to turn on....

Why not just use a 5 pin plug ?

B/C I would in theory like to be able to use it on multiple different vehichles

You could have a 4 pin and a 5 pin plug on the trailer and use the one that works with the tow vehicle.

You would lose the amber turn signals with the 4 pin but would be able to use them with your vehicle.

If the trailer will see any water at all (boat or jetski) than keep it as simple as possible.
