wiring flashing led with relay?

is there a way i can wire a flashing LED to a relay, so that it is on (flashing) when my ignition is OFF? (like an alarm led)

im pretty sure you can just use your ignition wire for those things.... dont think you would need a relay

step 1. Black wire to batt neg or chassis ground

step 2. yellow wire to Ignition - ground when engine is off (fuse box i.e Radio fuse)

step 3. red wire to batt pos.

forgot to say, my led only has red/black, no yellow wire.

If your thinking of using one of the fake scanners, id reconsider, they are more of a theft magnet, than a theft deterrent. People in the business of stealing systems, almost always can tell the fake ones. I would see if you can get a single blinking led.

forgot to say, my led only has red/black, no yellow wire.

I may be wrong here, relays aint my specialty...

but if you get a normaly closed relay and hooked it up using your ignition wire, or even your remote turn on off the deck, it should work...

i got it. its working, hopefully itll last lol.. i didnt even use a relay. i found online that a few people said just hook the + to constant 12v (wire from radio etc) and hook the negative wire on the led to the switched 12v.. when the switched is hot, the led is off (hopefully not damaging the led or anything) but when the car is off, the switched 12v rests at ground, so it grounds the led at that point, and it then flashes.

this is just a temp setup anyways, but it looks like i have an alarm now lol
