Wiring Comps to 2 ohms?

I have 2 sets of components running off a 4 channel amp and I was wondering if running them on a 2ohm load would hurt them at all (amp is stable to 1ohm). Would I just put both the front + wires the the front bridged + and both the front - wires to the front bridged - (and the same for the back?). I am trying to get them to play a little louder and distort less when playing lower midbass notes... Btw they are getting 45watts from the amp now (supposedly), running it at 2ohm would give them 70 watts (they are rated for 65w rms).Thanks.

Bridging the amp to two component sets isn't really going to gain anything for you. The bridged power will still be divided between the component sets so they will continue to see the same power they are getting now.

Actually, they would get less. If they are receiving 45w RMS now, but running at 2ohm the amplifier will only output 70w...that's only 35w instead of the 45w they are receiving now.

So, as was mentioned...it would do absolutely nothing for you. The power will then be divided between them, and it'll actually be less than they are receiving now.

I'm doubting that the bridged 2 ohm power is less than twice the 4ohm power unbridged. If it is, I'd be seriously doubting that the amp is really 1 ohm stereo stable.

It would probably be louder, but it would probably sound better if you just ran a single set of good components off the amp bridged. Much less cancellation to worry about and more headroom for the amp.

You are correct sir. I didn't even think about the 70w output that he mentioned. I am accustomed to dealing with amps that actually double their power as they should when the load is cut by half.

Everytime you post in a thread, I'm like 'WTF? I don't remember typong that".

Ya I wasn't thinking right about the power being divided, I don't know why, I guess I need to look into bi-amping the front speakers to get the power I need, that amp isn't pushing them like I had hoped. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif Thanks. P.S. Can anyone reccommend a good passive crossover capable of bi-amping, my current ones won't do it and I don't really want to mess with all the tuning involved with throwing out the x-over, just trying to get more power to the front comps (they are BA SX60's if it matters) Thanks again.
