How do you wire a sub so that it is "bridged"? I currently have 2 MA Audio 12'' subs, but just ordered one 15'' L7. I am gonna TEMPORARILY use the same 2 channel amp to run my 2 ohm kicker l7. According to the site I bought the amp from (sonic electronix), I can bridge the amp at 4 ohms. How exactly to I bridge a sub(or amp or whatever)? Do i just wire it normally? HELP!!

Pm

First off you do not bridge a sub. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Bridging is the term attached to combining two stereo amp channels into a single, mono output.

For your purposes you will want to wire the DVC 2 Ohm L7 like so to make a 4 Ohm load:

Then on the amp you'll want to connect the (+) output terminal from the left channel and the (-) output from the right channel to power the sub. If there is a switch on your amp for bridged operation then set it to the appropriate detent. If there's no switch then likely your amp auto-detects bridged mode and if so, you're gold. (Providing you don't have an older amplifier that requires an external module to run it bridged like some of the old HCCA Orions, etc)

On almost all the amps that have a bridging switch, all the switch does is make the left input jack the only jack that it takes a signal from ensuring that you get the same signal to both channels. Not all amps have this switch but either way it doesn't affect the actual bridging operation of the amp.
