the jl w7 says it is dual 3 ohm coils so if were to run one of those subs could i run it in serie and get 2 ohms?

Keep in mind that's only for the 13" W7. The others are single 3ohm voice coil.

Are you sure they're single 3? I thought the 10/12's were DVC 3, and I know the 13.5's are dual 1.5

It says on their website that the 13W7 is dual voice coil, all the rest are single. Here look at this.... http://jlaudio.com/subwoofers/pdfs/SUB_PowerRange.pdf. Its in PDF Format but it tells all the power ranges of their subs and then at the bottom lists all the voice coil configurations.
