wiring 4 component sets

hey i have a question regarding a 4 component sets. I want to run a 4 channel amp. I was wondering if this wiring would be correct. All 4 component sets have a 4 ohm impedence. Can i wire the rear components in series and obtain a 8 ohm load and then do the same for the front 2 components giving me two 8 ohm loads? Now my question is can i run those two 8 ohm loads i got from the front/rear components parallel and obtain a 4 ohm final load for all 4 components? If not then what kind of specs on a 4 channel should i be looking for?

Im a lil lost with your wiring....
If you have a 4 channel amp and (4) component sets that are rated at 4 ohm each, why not just put one on each channel of that amp?
because 4 comp. sets would equal 8 drivers. More than likely, that means 2 4 ohm drivers would equal a 2 ohm load per channel if wired like that... thats some serious stress on an amp.

Either that or 8 ohms per channel... but again..... you wouldnt see shit for power.

I understand now, but the way the OP stated as if he had (4) comp sets that had a 4 ohm each (1 mid, 1 tweeter, one passive crossover). Thats why I mention what I did. I didnt realize he meant wiring all the drivers seperate. Not sure how that would work out or sound...

tez4life- you were correct i was talking about wiring the 4 crossovers which are rated at 4 ohms each. I guess that wouldne work. So am i just looking for a 4 channel amp that is rated 75X4 or 100X4? I was just trying to just get a 4ohm load since alot of 4 channel amps give more watts at a 4ohm load.

yea depends on what your trying to power, but 75 to 100 per channel is a good start and prob what your looking for. Plus it give you the flexible to control the output and frequency of the rears so that they dont pull the sound stage from the front.

OK

4 sets means: 8 midbass, 8 passive crossovers, and 8 tweets.

Each of the four sets has a 4 ohm impedance, measured at the crossover. That means that you have eight 4 ohm loads.

Most amps can do a two ohm load, look into it. I would match up pairs of components in parallel, so that you get four 2 ohm loads, which you could then hook up to the four channels of your amp.

-or-

You could, as above match up pairs of components in parallel into four 2ohm loads. Then put two of the 2ohm loads in series to leave you with two four ohm loads. You could then bridge your amp to run two channels at 4 ohms.

Thats what i was saying! lol.
