I have two 10" alpine speakers with a kenwood 1000 watt 2 ch amp and want to get the best sound quality out of it, little distortion as possible. What is the best way to wire it? The amp model is KAC 7204

Can I wire the DVC in a series giving each speaker 8 ohm and then wire both of them for 16ohm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif I have no idea what im doing, I just want it to sound good, it doesnt have to shake my car apart.

Looking at the amp specs looks like it is 2 ohm stable pushing 250 rms * 2 channels so wire each sub's pair of voice coils in parallel and then connect each sub to separate channels on your amp so you'll be pushing ~250rms per sub. Here is a great diagram you can use http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/ca/learningcenter/car/subwoofer_wiring/2DVC_4-ohm_2ch.jpg

Oh also, generally the higher the ohm load the amp sees, the less power it will put out. Good luck.

the higher the load it puts out less power but has better sound quality right? Would the solution then be a bigger amp or amps?

I have them wired up to that diagram but they dont seem to be getting enough poewr... I just blew the fuse on the amp, I think, Ill have to check it out tommarrow. I am using 16ga speaker wire, should I go larger?

16ga will work but is not ideal, may want to go with 12ga. Biggest issue is something is causing your fuse to blow, you either have something hooked up incorrectly, you have a short, or your ground is not good. check those things out.

ohms does not equate to sound quality. here's a great site to learn from http://www.bcae1.com/

OOh, thanks for the website!

Ill have to order it when i get some cash... lol. I have people telling me that my amp can not supply enough power to keep up with the subs... I dont know, I guess its all trial and error until I get it right.

It depends one whats playin too, some songs sound better than others but, Its still not a clear sounding bass.

I did not blow a fuse, my ground came lose, I will fix that first and work from there. Is it possible that my box may be too small or too large?
