Wires

Greetings! In home audio different wires are said to have different effects on the components of the system. I am wondering if the same might apply to car audio. I am trying to solve the problem of midrange distortion in my Audi A4, and have tried just about everything else. Any comments, ideas, suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

wire is wire...only thing that matters is that its oxygen free copper and has a high strand count.....as far as the distortion......we'd need a tad more info about everything to fix that problem

Wow! That was a quick response! I expected that "wire is wire." A few weeks ago I posted a thread regarding my car and got few responses. I know that diagnosis in absentia is nigh to impossible, but I have had no luck with local installers and have tried everything, including using my sister's car as a second source of components, switching signal routes etc., etc. I had been using a/d/s 346is components in the highly modified front doors and have tried many other speaker brands. A high level of dfistortion between 800 abd 1250hz exists no matter which components I use. An Eclipse 1/3 octave EQ helps somewhat, but not completely. Maybe this is a problem inherent in A4s, but I can't imagine why. My amp is a JL Audio 5/500 and my head unit is an Alpine 7894 w/changer. I have just recently purchased used door panels and temporarily installed a/d/s 5 1/4" co-axials that were in the rear. Problem remains. I want to install top quality 5 1/4" components in the doors, but I need speakers with extremely smooth midrange and highs. I have previously tried Dynaudio, Focal Utopia, and JL Audio 6 1/2" components, but they just seem to be too large for the application. I have no extraneous noise in my cables, and the doors are damped with Cascade Audio. I am stumped!
