new alt voiding warranty?

Well I am thinking of getting a new alt for my xterra, which only has 6000 miles on it right now. And well, my father has brought up the concern that by getting one I might void my factory warranty. Now I am not sure what this means...for instance would this mean if my cars computer went out would they not fix it under warranty or thepower windows? anyone know?

just so you know, if ANYTHING electrical goes out they are going to blame it on your audio system. They will never check to see if you have a new alternator, all they will do is see aftermarket stuff then say that is the cause and it voids the warranty.
