wires needed for amp to comps..

You don't need any power cable for your components.

All you need is speaker wire to connect input side of the passive crossover unit to the amplifier and then more wire to connect each driver (assuming it is a standard ttwo-way setup we're talking about then the midwoofer and tweeter) to the output side of the passive crossover.

As far as how many feet? That will depend on your specific installation.

How far away from the amplifier will the crossover units be?

How far away from the crossover units will the separate drivers be?

Answer those questions and then multiply the answer times two (for left and right side) and you'll know how much length of wire you'll need.

well, the amp is going to be under the front passenger seat. and the crossover are going to be in the panels. so all i need is speaker and rca wires? any other equipment needed? because i dont want to pay 45 dollars for something i can get for 10-15 bucks.

spend an extra couple bux on the power kit and get an 8 ga

most people would advise you to get 4 ga - hell, anymore 1/0 is almost standard.

your amp will WORK with 10, but almost any upgrade is going to require 8, and as cheap as it is there's no reason not to go with that from the start.

Anyway - with components your speaker wire needs can add up quick -- you need to go from amp to crossover (x2), crossover to tweet (x2) and crossover to woofer (x2). Could be anywhere from 10' on the real short side to 50' or more depending on your car and where you're going to locate stuff.

16 ga would be ideal.

I wasn't aware that you needed to hook up the amplifier as well - I thought (going by your opening post) that all you needed was the necessary stuff to hook up the components and that's it.

If we're adding an amp into the mix then you'll need power cable and ground cable (what amp are we talking about here?), the aforementioned RCA cables, and you'll also need a length of wire (size is of no great import for this function) to serve remote activation duty.

This will be the lead that goes from your remote turn-on output on the back of your source unit to the appropriate input terminal on the amp which will tell it to turn on and off with your source unit.
