Ok is there anything that I could buy to plugg in / install into my Tower (Reg Computer not laptop) So that I could have access to the net? Something Wirless and that connects off of others? I know you can right? but jus forgot what its called? link to it if you can if not tell me then name and ill google it

what? Are you asking if you can have a wireless signal? Such as an 802.11A/B/G connection?

Or is this just to easy? If you are asking about leeching you need a different type of antenna, you need one that is significantly stronger than the ones you can buy at best buy or something.

Well alls im want to do it get internet access to my PC/Tower without having to get roadrunner people pc or any of that... You know how some laptops you can just bring anywhere and they are connect to the net? Well wanted to know if I could buy somthing from anywhere that would let me gain access to the net on my Tower/Pc

yes....what you do is you take a wireless router and connect it to your modem. Then you buy a wireless pc adapter and install it via PCI slot or USB like Snova pointed out. Then windows takes over and you follow some on screen stuff and boom should work. I would go into the details of how to set it up but I doubt you know how to do that considering you don't know about wireless adapters.

Yeah lol... How much do you think the Router and Adapter is gonna cost me? thats all I need? Could you recommend me a Router and Adapter to buy?

this is only going to work if one of your close neighbors has an unsecured wireless account

It'll probably cost 75-80 bucks if you get that router. You can find cheaper routers for as little as 25-30 bucks though. Just depends on budget really.

^ X2 I have a wireless network, and it's secured. I live about 5 miles away from anyone. If you're just wanting to hijack someone's internet, you're going to need more than just a wireless, unless they have unsecured networks. If you live in a college neighborhood, you can get lucky and get free internet 24/7, or even by a LARGE hospital. I was at my buddy's house, who happens to live in the local college neighborhood, and I got about 20+ signals, and about 7-8 were unsecured. yeah, two of the three places I've lived people didn't have WEP on. However the place I'm at now, I got 5 signals, 4/5 were secured and the one I COULD access was to far away, so packets were being lost like crazy.

I've had 2 linksys routers, and one we've had for over 3-4 years. That sucks yours crapped out however.

I had mine for a good year, and once it burnt up, I took it back to Best Buy and said I got it as a gift, and hooked it up and no go. Don't listen to all these fools telling you to just go out and buy something. Make sure that you can get a good signal in the place you want to use it before you go out and spend money on something that in all likelihood probably wont work.
