the sub doesnt matter.... just the amp, because that is what is pulling / giving the power, the sub does not take power it just recievs power.

He's saying it doesn't matter what sub is used since the sub doesn't "request" power. The amp is going to put out and pull from the electrical system a certain amount of power at a certain impedence based on how certain features are set [gain, bass boost, etc] and based on the input signal, regardless of what sub/speaker the amp is powering.
