Well at the moment I'm not running any really high quality equipment but I do plan on upgrading sometime would it be a good idea to get some good quality wire for the long run?

Wire size to what?

power wire, speaker wire, remote wire, ground wire, etc

Quality isn't the concern. Safety is. Wire is wire. Just make sure the wire is large enough for whatever your future plans may include.

4ga. - power/ground

16ga. - speakers

12ga. - sub

if you plan to go bigger, anything over 1200 rms, i would go 1/0... but i'm all about having plenty of power instead of not enough... if you stay with this then deadly is right 4 gage will be fine...

i cant remember who but a guy on this forum had 1900 rms and his 4 gauge wire was plenty he said. but outspoken is right go 0 gauge after around 1200 rms. My system is around 1200 and i use 0 gauge split into two 4 gauges.

the amp, but remember, if you ever plan to go bigger, do the big wire now... i had to go from 8 to 4 to now 1/0 and could have saved time and money in the long run, if you know your gonna stay at what you are getting then you'll be fine

also, look at rms not max for wattage on the AMP, that will tell you what you need to run...
