I have an unknown model Sansui radio with input / output plugs resembling a Grundig radio.

Pin descriptors are:

1 - TXD

2 - RDX

3 - -+A (CD)

4 - -+U (CD)

5 - GND LINE OUT

6 - GND

7 - Line out RF

8 - Line out RR

9 - Line out LF

10 - Line out LR.

My question: is it possible to directly connect the wires of a 3.5mm jack to the (I'm guessing) #3 and 4 pins without a digital to analog converter, and if it's possible how exactly should I wire it?

I have found a forum post which makes me think it might be possible, however the sales person at a local car audio store said it isn't possible without a convertor (which makes more sense to me).

Nevertheless I'm very hopeful

Thanks and kind regards,

Gravaviel

I've posted a reply (since I couldn't create the post containing the links) referencing an image of the pin configuration, and a forum post I found where some guy claims he did something similar with a sort-of similar radio, however it is still awaiting a moderator's approval.

In retrospect, I could just give the links without hotlinking -

the AVIC was a tad more complicated to wire not to mention stuffing it in a smallish stereo hole. thanks for advice.

Drill a hole and use the proper protective split loom and hole grommets to keep the outer speaker jacket from knicks and cuts, give just enough...

It mostly comes down to weight. You can have a super lightweight cone, soft suspension and aluminum coil on a sub and you pretty much get a pro...
