wire comparisons

I have heard before that silver is great for signal cable. There are a lot of high end guitar cables that are made of silver instead of gold, copper, or nickel. At least that's what I've been told at a couple of local music shops a few years ago when I was buying all of my bass equipment. Of course I didn't buy the $100 silver cable, I got the cheap Ernie Ball cable. I wonder if that does any justice to my Fender/Ampeg setup. As far as power wire goes, silver probably wouldn't be any better than copper. I've got Stinger Pro 1/0 and some JL 1/0. The Stinger looks thicker, but I think the JL has a very thin insulation. I don't have any pics as it's almost all in my car now.

silver is more cunductive than copper, but the small gain you would have over copper is not nearly worth the ridiculous price you would pay. Copper is pretty much the standerd in car audio wiring.

Silver is a slightly better conductor than copper, but not worth it unless you're rich and space is a serious issue. I do believe though that silver is better for signal transmission, but if you have the choice to do digital signal cables instead of analog, that'll be better yet!
