What world are we really living in?

That vast moat is made from hate. Hateful people will never compromise because they never even consider that other ideas exist that weren’t derived from a hateful position. It’s a Freudian slip by an entire country.

I'd say the issue at this point is that both parties have taken complete leave of logic and facts.

We have the wokesters who believe "identifying" as a woman indeed makes one a woman to the point that men who believe they are women should compete with real women in athletics.

OTOH, neoconservatives have turned "stolen election" into not just a plank but the entire GOP platform without any evidence the election was stolen. Furthermore, the GOP wants to crack down on crime unless of course it's a loophole that allows criminals to circumvent background checks or basically anything do with guns.

I don't know that it's hate or solely hate. People on both sides have taken complete and total leave of their senses. For example, the gun lobby has been telling "me" that "they" are coming for our guns for 3 decades now, yet guns have only become more readily available and deadlier with each passing moment. OTOH, we have men bitching they aren't allowed to compete in woman's sports because they "identify" as a woman. Well I identify as Ryan Reynolds, but I don't get bang Blake Lively and drive his Lamborghini.

So the question is, does the hatred drive the complete disconnect from logic, facts and reality or is it the disconnect from reality that drives the hatred? I'd like to think it's the disconnect from reality that drives the hatred, but I suspect it's the other way around.

Sounds bad, but is it that bad? Basically it prevents a non-parent adult from assisting a minor in getting an abortion without parental consent. Sorry girls, but if you're mature enough to get yourself knocked up, then you're mature to talk to your parents about it (or a find away to get an abortion without help from an adult).

I think the hate drives the disconnect. It’s the reason you don’t hear a persons perspective in the first place. The disconnect itself doesn’t cause hate, it’s produced by it. Religions and their histories are a perfect example. You disconnect people by sowing a seed of conflict then you water the seed with cherry picked information that grows into hatred.

The middle ground fell out during the Obama administration. People were terrified that economic collapse and socialism was forming.

Along comes Trump. The polar opposite of Obama and a person who wasn't a Politian so he could win without the lobby. 4 years of all the shit that went on, then Biden getting elected just completely pushed the left and right into opposing corners and they are so far apart they cannot even see the line in the middle anymore.

There is no middle ground or compromise to speak of. This country is just literally falling the **** apart in front of our very eyes. Thats why I am personally no compromise on the second Amendment. Both side of the government are worthless and when society crumbles around them, i want my means of protection reserved. I never wanted to be a single issue voter, but thats what i am now. The people who support 2A gets my vote. Dont care who likes it or not.

Unfortunately, I think you're right, which is why facts, debate, etc seem to fuel the hate rather than dissipate it. We've actually gotten to the point where politicians are now so "Oh well, nothing we can do about mass shootings in schools" and the gun fanatics are pleased with that answer because of their hatred for gun laws.
