I am sure there are clauses like "You don't get paid IF I lose".

They pay big retaining fees up front. Those kind of high profile attorneys aren't free or pro bono.

They still get paid up front for representing them. There isn't a clause where an attorney only gets paid if they win the case. That was so ridiculous that you said that. Attorneys are paid well before the case ever goes to court. If it even goes to court.

Don't speak on things you don't know about anymore ok. I have had TWO attorneys that were both "WE DON'T GET PAID UNLESS YOU GET PAID" and neither one got a dime up front.

I can understand that ambulance chaser attorneys (personal injury) would takes cases on a % basis. Most of those cases never even go to trial. I highly doubt that a criminal defense attorney would take a case where they wouldn't get paid a dime if they lost.
