This has nothing to do with your presumption that if Mein Kampf was included as part of a WWII curriculum in history class, that it should have just been ignored.

If it had been part of any history lessons you took in school, would you have simply disregarded it and said "I know why Hitler rose to power; I don't need to learn about this published work by him"?

Maybe...but even if I had read...I probably wouldn't push it as a must read...or in your case robbie...using the fact I read mein kampf to be intellectually superior

Oh yeah, that's right the information is suppose to filtered without any sort of mechanism in place to prevent it from being disclosed. Of course that would require journalists "conspiring" to not report that information, which would make it censorship just not gov't censorship. Or perhaps it would become part of journalistic standards (ie the NYT or AP style guide), but then again that would be a form of censorship. But lets just say that some how we can get around the whole censorship issue, we'll call it God's will or magic or whatever other way information could with held from the public without censoring it (although technically even if we put it on God or Wizards, it just means God or Wizards are the ones doing the censoring).

Still doesn't address the fact that regardless of the issue of censorship, the identifying of a killers beliefs doesn't seem to really have any impact on the division in our nation. Ie, I think most of us accept that mass murderers are mass murderers first with their "identities" coming in a distant second.

It's only censorship because you want it to be. It's not though. All you are saying is the news is not enough unless it's giving you details that don't help you do anything. The more dramatic the news the more you like it.

A person armed with a gun shot up a school today killing 6 people. That is complete information. You think it's censorship if they don't include the person's ****** preference. Do you need to know their shoe size, color underwear?
