Look, fuck all the conspiracy theory bullshit, the blame game, OPEC and whatever else you all want to bring into this conversation.

If we (America) are drilling more and producing more oil then why have gas prices been higher since the beginning of Biden's presidency? You want to say more is being done than when Trump was president but his gas prices were lower... why?

You gonna blame Russia, Ukraine, OPEC, Saudi Arabia, Antarctica...

No, I'm going to blame market forces. Conservatives are big fans of capitalism, market forces, supply & demand, etc. Neo-cons show a remarkable lack of understanding those concepts, but if they can be used to support a given narrative or policy position, they're sure to point to those factors. But when free market forces explain why things they want to blame on Biden, Clinton, Bill Gates, etc don't work in the favor of their narrative, suddenly it's like they're 5 year olds with no idea of how supply and demand works.

Anybody can google search for US Oil production, global oil production, OPEC oil production and see what's happened to oil production in past 2 years. Remember supply side economics, Reagan, Art Laffer, Laffer Curve - the very basis of conservative economic policy??? Anybody familiar with concepts would understand that cutting supply increases prices. Although technically "demand side," there are economist that claim an increase in demand also causes prices to rise. Anybody can look up drilling starts (up 60%). Anybody can look up if Biden is issuing more drilling permits (he is). Anybody can look up how drilling permits and land leases work. Unfortunately, if you're working backwards from a predetermined narrative (that Biden is to blame), then facts, data, stats, etc become rather inconvenient.

Because they can’t control your life without creating a fake energy crisis. Biden literally belongs to the people who want to end oil usage.

LOL - Biden belongs to the people who want to keep drilling. He pretends to "belong" to the green crowd, but in reality Biden is doing what's politically expedient. Biden is increasing drilling permits, Biden is running around the globe begging oil producing countries to increase output.

How long has he been inserted into office now? Why have prices for gas here in America jumped so high under Biden for so long if he is doing more? That makes NO SENSE.

Makes total sense unless you don't want it to. You've heard about the pandemic and while sometimes the news would have you believe it isn't over - it's over. People are driving, people are returning to work, people are traveling. Global production has not reached pre-pandemic levels. OPEC+ is decreasing output because they like prices where they are. And of course there are the problems inherent in trying to ramp up production, especially in this labor market. The Ukrainian war is hindering global supply.

What would you have Mr Incompetent do to bring prices down that he hasn't done already?

So now Biden controls what privately owned multinational corporations do with drilling permits that are approved?
They get a permit, and then Biden tells them not to drill in order to keep gas prices high?
And none of them have gone to the press and blown this conspiracy wide open?

It’s been said before, but that’s the problem with conspiracy fantasies: As soon as you put them under even the most basic scrutiny, they fall apart.

Gas prices are driven by a WORLD market. Even YOU could trade commodities futures and affect the price of oil, gas, grain.
But believing that would mean you have to let go of this fantasy that Biden sets the price.
And we know reality ain’t your bag when it contradicts your feelings.

See, this is the road the current GOP voter travels. The facts, stats, data, etc don't match their narrative, that just proves there's a cover up. I never thought the party of William Buckley would/could turn into the party of conspiracy theorist so fast and so completely. Even Limbaugh would be a welcome reprieve from today's neo-conservatives...

What I am reading is a bunch of over complicated excuses and misdirection. It's very simple. Stop buying OVER PRICED OIL from other countries. Refine our oil and sell our oil. They want to go green, we will have no choice when the oil runs out right? So until it does, use our oil and lower our prices, sell our oil and make money for our country. Simple, simple and oh yeah, simple.

All these excuses about OPEC reducing production only matters because we buy their oil. We (America) are sitting on more oil than we will ever need for ourselves. What it looks like is this capitalism everyone loves keeps going the other way and we are making others rich when we are sitting on plenty of gold, so to speak.

The presence and purpose of nerves in bones has been under investigation for many decades, beginning in earnest with the use of routine histological preparations and electron microscopy in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s (13). These studies were motivated by the desire for greater understanding of skeletal pain, such as that induced by surgical operations to resect tumors or stabilize broken bones.

Are you siting this to discuss how these studies will help Biden?

I guess you don't understand how the global oil supply chain works. Oil is both imported and exported from the US. This is done by multinational companies. For example, it may be more expedient, convenient, cost effective for these entities to drill oil in Texas and ship it to Japan and import "replacement" oil from Saudi Arabi than to ship oil all the way from Saudi Arabi to Japan. Most of our imports come from Canada, then Mexico. Ironically Russia was #3 on the list, I'm guessing that is no longer the case. There are other considerations for the game of import/exporting, such as the make up the fuel demand, refining capability/capacity, etc.

The US is the #1 producer of oil in the world and we're actually a net exporter, so the multinational companies we lease land to and then permit to drill said land actually benefit considerably from current gas prices. One might conclude they don't have a lot of motivation to ramp up production.

Refine our oil and sell our oil. They want to go green, we will have no choice when the oil runs out right? So until it does, use our oil and lower our prices, sell our oil and make money for our country.

That is exactly what is happening and what will continue to happen. It's amazing to me that so 'mericans are up in arms about gas prices without even a basic understanding of how the industry works. More permits and more drilling makes Exxon executives rich seems to have little impact at the pump. Crank up US production, who cares, OPEC+ will cut production and oil execs will export US oil because it's profitable to do so. I'm guessing Exxon is making record profits currently.

And what would you have Biden do? Nationalize the oil industry?

And before you fall for another common narrative circulated by the right - the old "we're not building refineries" story. That story is also of a work of fiction.
