Will this work?

I am considering connecting 2 Pioneer subs to a kenwood amp. The RMS of the two subs combined is 800W and the RMS of the amp is 1000W. However, the peak of the two subs combined is 2800W and the peak of the amp is only 2000W. Will this work or do I need a more powerful amp?

Peak power on those subs and amp, is a marketing ploy for those that are ignorant to the fact. All you need is the rms power. But with that being said, a quality, well built sub can take up to twice rated power; if, and only if it is clean power. You should be fine with that set up, as long as your gains are set properly, and you do not attempt to make the amp produce more than it is designed to.
