Just fixed on a 1farad cap.

A pair of dynaudio 240GT speakers for front

10" orange mohawk woofer with box

A Orion Hcca250G5 amp to power the front speakers and rear woofer

Found that the front stage is too powerful that its covering the sound from the woofer, but my original h.u the kenwood 4070 can't adjust it at all.

Thinking of a complete upgrade next 1-2 months

H.u - change to alpine 9831 with h700 processor

A mono block ard the power of alpine m300 v12 for the woofer.

A 4 channel amp to run active up front (Maybe is orion xtr 5004 )

A pair of canton components for the rear and using the orion hcca250g5 to power them

Overall, will the upgrade below give me a much improvement in the sound quality and bass?

I am looking ot get a set of dyna 240 gts myself. Though I don't think I will have a problem with my front overwellming my sub 2000x and a XXX 15 hehe. why don't you look into eclpise or clarion for a deck. with a set of comps. like that I would think you looking for more sq and well the eclpise or clarion would be way cleaner than that alpine or kenwood by far in my opinion.

Why not just turn the gain down on the front stage amp?

Am I missing something?

This is the most typical adjustment that everyone has to make, in setting up a system.

An additional positive from this are improved distortion specs from the amp, and more headroom left available.

That's the cheapest and most effective "upgrade" ever. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

He's running it 3-way. He needs to buy another amp and then it make make a world of difference. The 250 is better than any of the amps on the list. Don't replace it. Just get a small amp to power the front stage and you should be golden. No need to replace the HU, you can configure the one you have to give you tons of control of the sound.

I'm still not seeing it...

You can always turn down the gains.

Whether that's one amp on the front stage, or two biamped, or three... etc.

Or are you saying he's running a single amp for everything, all passive, "tri-mode" as they used to call it? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

I got it.

He does have a couple alternatives, to balance things out:

1) buy/build L-pads for the front speakers... the 'passive' equivalent of turning down the gains on the front speakers. Real easy and cheap.

2) build a larger enclosure for the subwoofer. Efficiency is proportional to enclosure size - and you can effect subwoofer output more via enclosure tweaks much than you can with power increases at any rate. Heck, it takes more than a 4x increase in power to effect a 2x increase in output.

I'd rather play the "manipulate efficiency" card anyday, personally. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Purchasing a second amp would offer greater flexibility, ease of adjustability (gain controls), and the ability to use and adjust built-in crossovers as well... but it's definitely the most expensive option.

I pretty much have the same setup,i already have the 240 gt's and they are really nice, the only downside i can think of is the tweeter is in a case that cannot be removed and that case is pretty big.i'm gonna run a 2000x to my XXX 18 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/toast.gif.bc0657bf54b9ee653b6438524461341e.gif
