Will these horns keep up with my setup?

Just wondering if anyone knows if these horns would be able to keep up with my 4 15" MTs... If not, I'm open to other suggestions.

Those horns are less sensitive than true HLCD, but still a good 3-5db more sensitive than most tweeters.

The shortcoming in those, for your purposes, would be the mids.

For your appliciation; IMHO you would be better to go active with one of the HLCD (Cd1 Pro or CD2) and a good high-output mid......3-way active would be better but now you are talking some serious processing power and more detailed installation.

I'm open to any suggestions in this price range $5-600. I'm stuck as to what to use. I'd rather steer clear of "EV" type speakers and use a true car audio speaker.

Do you have the processing ability to go 2-way active with horns? This includes the necessary crossovers aswell as equalization....as most horns sound like *** straight out of the box.

If you want to buy used, you can get good deals on CD1 Pros and CD2s.

If you don't want to buy used, then you can just get the horn bodies from woofersetc and go to partsexpress and get some good compression drivers. This route is typically cheaper than purchasing the ID HLCD's brand new. The Radian 450PB are a good choice for affordability and performance (used in the Illusion Audio CH1 horns). B&C has some good products aswell such as the DE500 and DE250 (B&C is actually the OEM for the compression drivers ID uses for their horns). BMS is getting good reviews aswell.

Going either route, used or DIY, you should have about $250 left to spend on mids.

This, ofcourse, assuming you have the proper xover and equalization for horns.

Yeah the only EQ I am using for my highs is through my Pioneer AVH-7600. I would have to find some crossovers and a better EQ I guess. I was recomended by some to use Beymas (such as the drivers and tweeters toward the top of my link)http://car.beyma.com/ENGLISH/listaprod.php?id_familia=13 Perhaps these will be a better alternative for my price range.

Audiolife listened to a setup and said that they did get loud while not sounding bad. A good high output/high efficiency alternative.

Definitely something to look into.

Though you're going to have to deal with some install issues. The high efficiency mids are going to want room to breathe, and the high efficiency tweeters are going to be directional aswell as quite likely harsh (without some nice EQ work).
