Will these 4 give me the results I want?

I just bought an 07 Hyundai Sonata with a factory stereo. I hear a lack of smoothness and clarity in the top end, and there is a lot of muddiness in the 250-400 hz range. I want to try to correct those issues. I am not trying to have a super loud system, or one that is going to have a ton of bass. I just want something that sounds more like my home stereo system. My budget is pretty limited, and I cannot add a sub because I need the trunk to carry things for work. I plan to listen to music off my iPod almost exclusively. I don't really care about cds or the radio.

Here is what I am thinking of purchasing.

Front Speakers - JL Audio XR 650 CSI

Rear Speakers - JL Audio XR 650

Receiver - Pioneer Premier DEH-P500UB

Amp - JL Audio A4300

Total cost prior to installation (which will require wires and the adapter to install a after market stereo to the dash of the Hyundai). $790

Both sets of speakers go down to 48 hz, so I am hoping to get reasonable bass even through I can't add a sub. All 4 speakers handle 70 watts rms, and that is exactly what the amp puts out. The receiver will allow me to hook up and control my iPod.

Am I missing anything? Would this be a nice upgrade on the factory setup? Will these components work well together? Anything substantially better in the price range?

Thanks guys,

Brad

I would really look into saving your money on the rear speakers and think about bridging the amp on the set of components.
Wooferstec also sells Image Dynamics, personally I would look into the CXS64 http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=3945 for 360 with free shipping.

I can get the front, componet JL Audios for $240 and the rear JLs for $185. That is a total of $425.

Are you saying that you would keep the rear factory speakers and get the Image Dynamics for the front speakers? Then you would use the JL amp to power the front Image Dynamics and use the stereo deck to power the stock factory speakers? That would save $65. Do you think that would improve the sound quality?

Thanks,

Brad

While I have always liked the XR's tweeter, they are a bit weak in the midbass department. No way they get to 48Hz flat.

I don't have room (or money) form much of a sub, but would something like the Infinity Basslink help out? It would take a little of the low end responsibility off the XRs.

Brad

It would definitely help.

If your main concern is for the driver's seat then I would agree that focusing your time and money on the front speakers will more beneficial than trying to get a great rear set up too.

FWIW I have 180x2 to my fronts and 15x2 to my rears.

I am pretty much exclusively concerned with the sound in the front seat.

What should I look at for options for the front component speakers? Any amp recommendations?

I would like to spend no more than $700 for front and rear speakers and the amp to push them.

Ok, here is what i am planning:

Deck - Pioneer Premier DEH - P600UB -$205

Front Component Speakers - Image Dynamic CXS64 - 6-1/2" Two-Way Component System 4ohm - $360

Front Speaker Amp Kenwood KAC-7203(RMS 150w x 2 @ 4ohms - $130

Rear Speakers JL Audio TR650-CXi - $99

Rear Speaker Amp - Pioneer GM-3300T 2-Channel (RMS 60w x 2 @ 4 ohms) - $82

Sub - Infinity Basslink - $175

Does anyone have any guess as to what professional installation will cost?

Thanks,

Brad
