I fried my alternator today //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I was running two Alpine Type R 12's, 2011 model with 600watt RMS on two Alpine MRP-M500 monoblock amps. My car was having no trouble powering them, not even dimming the headlights. The Type R's are broken in now so I decided to get a new amp and up the wattage.
I installed the Hifonics Brutus BRZ1700.1 today (go ahead, hate), and had it just under 3/4 gain with bass boost at +5db. It was running fine for about 20 mins and then everything in my car started shutting off and going dim. I made it home, shut the car off tried to start it back up, and it was dead. I attached a 12v jumper unit, and it started up but it wont start without it.
So basically my question is, if I were to install a Kinetik power cell in my trunk (1800amp), would that keep my next alternator from frying? I have done the big 3, but my battery and alternator are still stock. You cant get a high output alternator for my car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. Figured Id clear that up
