i have a 93 chevy 1500 single cab and i have this metal piece that goes all the way across the cab. it almost seems like it serves as a brace for my back window. but unfortunately it is in the way of my new box plan //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif so i was wondering if any of you think it would be alright to take it out. and also its welded in so how should i go about getting it off?i already tried taking a crowbar to it and that wasnt workin. so any suggestions would be appreciated . i can take pics if it would help. but in the meantime ill draw somethin up on paint to help show what im talking about.

thanks,

-eric

yea i know the drawing sucks. i will have pics up tomorrow most likely.

What are you planning for your sub box?

Are you talking about a blow through?

if you take that out, you have to put another brace or else over time the body will bend and it won't drive straight anymore.

If you're building the box for just the inside, build around it.

I wouldn't recommend taking it out unless you plan on welding more support.

i'd prolly leave it there or weld something new but thinner in place as a brace

Ways to get it out = power nibbler is what would be best, but few have one

Id personally use a 2 handed power grinder with big cutoff wheel.... but kind of unsafe in the car environment, sparks could start the seats or upholstery on fire.. plus lets nto forget every car has a gas tank //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Ive done it before .... in my own car of course

depends on the system I can see some problems if your doing something serious
Well, that's the cross brace for the truck.

The only way it wouldn't be a problem is if... well, there will always be a problem.

Even if the truck sits there over time the cab will start to sag due to not properly displacing the weight of the roof / window.

****. well i cant really build around it because the seats are right next to it. i was planning on taking that out and building a wedge shaped box with an added rectangular box on top of it. shit this really bursted my bubble. i have been planning on this new system for months. i have the money and everything. i even bought 2 new batteries, all new 1/0 wiring, and did the big 3. this blows.

yea man... you should build a blow through... youll still have full movement of your seats... not so many worries about weather or not you are cutting out a meaning full brace for your cab... and you have nearly and unlimited amount of room for speakers and space for your amps and extra batteries
