Will I get Phasing and Cancellation?

I may be asking a question that I already know the answer to but I would like some other opinions. I’m in the process of revising my current system. I have upgraded to Infinity 6.5” components (2 pair) from Polk EX368s but I was planning on keeping the Polks, since they fit in the factory mounts.

I plan to align the “viewing angle” of the Infinitys with a laser pointer but I obviously can’t realign the Polks. The Polks sound excellent, although not on part with the Infinitys, of course.

My main concerns are: How much trouble with sound being out of phase should I expect, how much cancellation (if any) should I expect, and what can be done about it, (if anything)?

I know that phase problems are inevitable. It’s just a question of how much. What I don’t know for sure – I’m ashamed to say – is what kind of cancellation I may get. If there is a way to avoid it, I’ll run both the Polks and the Infinitys (despite lowering the SQ a little, which I’m aware of), for sheer volume.

Meanwhile, I had the joy of listening to a single set of Diamond HEX S600s components yesterday at 170W RMS apiece from a Crossfire amp. All I can say is… * w o w *. They blew away anything I have ever listened to. I regret getting the Infinitys now, but that’s life.

You should not have any problems with cancelation as long as your polarity is right and they are not sharing a common chamber (not a big problem though)

Phasing and immaging can be adjusted with a headunit, amp or linedriver with correction.

Honestly you should have much problem other than timing, but it will be sooo discreate I wouldnt worry about it.

Just dont do anything stupid like swiching on drivers channels or trying to time control unless you have a processor to do it right.

Phasing shouldnt be a problem...but if your nit pickey get a good line driver

Sorry for the bump but I thought I would let this thread make one more round, to see if anyone else had thoughts on it, agreed/disagreed, or just wanted to provide a little input?

Phasing - garbage. You'll likely have your subwoofer "out of phase" to bring the bass up front in the vehicle anyway. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Cancellation - happens in every car every time no matter what.

Solution? Deal with it.. and move the drivers physical location... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I guess I got caught up in the technicalities and found myself worrying a bit too much about the "what if's" of configuring and installing my new system.
