i was wondering if a head unit will really make my amp and sub sound a lot better. i have a 96 bmw m3 and stock harmon kardon stereo with a 300 watt autotek amp and a 12" cerwin vega HED-12dvc. will it greatly affect them?

What do you mean by sound better ? An aftermarket head unit might have a higher preamp output level which would reduce the noise floor. As far as making anything sound better I would have to say I don't think so. I have a neighbor with an M5 ( i love that car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif ) he also has the factory H/K setup. I installed a 12" infinity perfect and a JL 500/1. His system will rival many aftermarket setups.
