Will cutting some strands from a 10ga wire ruin sound?

I am running 10ga wire to a subwoofer that doesn't allow a full 10ga wire. So I trimmed some of the strands at the end I plugged it in at. Will this utilize the the full 10ga cable once the electricity hits the ends and utilize the whole cable? I don't know how else to word this sorry if I confused anyone!
