RED Top or Yellow top??? red top is 910 CA 720 CCA with reserve capacity 90 minute and amp hours 44!! yellow top is 870ca 750 cca reserve capacity 120 minutes and amp hour 55! im thinking the red top for more of a under the hood battery? let me no thanks tim

4 12" AQ sd2.5's and a kicker kx 2500 with a kinetik 2400 in back.. when i had the 2400 battery in back before it helped the volts a little bit..

im just trying to figure out by putting better battery under the hood and doign big 3 if my volts will raise some?

yellow top because they are deep cycle so if you drain the batt you can recharge it i dont believe you can just go to a store and get a deep cycle red top i think it may have to be ordered and they are a lot more expensive than a yellow top. id recommend doing the big 3 upgrade first no matter what battery you put in they are all 12vdc if you want higher voltage output you need less resistance in your cars electrical system. if you truly want to be done with this just go big 3 yellow top and ho alt and have a nice day!

If you (OP) are talking about system voltage with the engine on, the alternator should be dictating voltage at that point, not the battery. And it shouldn't require an upgraded big 3 to sit over 14volts, at idle. What's the battery voltage with the engine/alternator off?

12 ish with the car off... 13.05 with car on... i did the interstate test on the alt and battery the alt says 14.08 without a load and 13.8 with load...

I was always told to run the red tops as a starter battery if you go deep cycle. Yellow tops are more for the secondary battery in the trunk. Least that is how I always used to do it.

I have 2 kinetiks though. A 2400 and a 600 now.

x2. My voltage with my truck on has been the same or nearly the exact same with both my stock and h.o. alternator. However, with my new bats, my resting voltage is a different story.

I've yet to see a stock battery that will sit that high for a long period of time. Hell, you could surprise me though.

Bahhhhhh, I always thought they were, lol! Still was always told to use a red top for starter battery. Maybe more CC amps?
