will a sealed box in an open trunk like an suv blow the subs?

You can play a sealed box with an open trunk, or in a box with a fox, or on a boat doing flips and... stuff. They are really fool proof and you shouldn't worry about it at all.

Its usually the ported boxes that sound like **** when the trunk is open.. Alot of people think that the subs are bottoming and stuff, its just cause the air is just blowing in the wind.. close the trunk and all is good..

What do you mean by bottoming?

Like the subs are being overpowered, or over peak excursion, its just what the ear hears but usually everything is fine it just sounds that way with the trunk open, i have ran many systems in my old full size bronco, ported and sealed, its a pretty large open area in there, and sealed sounded great. Imo i would go for a ported enclosure in a suv since there is the extra room for it..

Ohh okay thank you for the advice

I would build whatever box the subs call for.......anyone telling you to build one or th other without knowing the subs is just wrong.

Also it won't matter ported or sealed if the trunk is open (unless you are doing 160 db's and manage to blow a window causing the subs to unload and launch a cone)

Chances are unless you are putting retard power to the subs, you will never bottom them out in a sealed enclosure.
