Will a OIL pressure gauge, give an accurate reading of fuel pressure?

and if you dont know what specific gravity is google it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

personally IMHO if you dont know the difference in the test guages you shouldnt be trying to diagnose someones car

thank you sicaudio all that you need to check it undo the fuel line and see if it sprays out the re conect it and pinch the return line and see if it gets hard if it dont its crap if it dose start the vehical with you pinching the return line and it oculd be as simple as your fuel pressure regulator went out wich isnt that spendy like 20 to 80 bucks depending if its fi or carbed

most f/i vehicles have a shraeder valve for testing the pressure and it is in the rail close to the injectors. what kind of car? yr ect? you can get a fp tester at any part store for 30$
I believe I stated that already. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I agree, use the tool designed for the job or go to someone with the correct tools and knowledge, it will probably save you a lot of time, money and headache.

i'd go with a $30 fp checker over trying to rig an oil pressure gauge
Well here in canada we dont have $30 fuel pressure checkers, canadian tire had a kit for $59, but only for GM vehicles, I had to buy an adapter for my infinity $9. SO no thanks on that idea.

Instead I did it for a total cost of $4.42 taxes in (had to buy a 1/4" brass T) by using parts i already had, and spilled a little gas on the driveway.

I hate to resurrect an old thread but do want to correct some misinformation.

Oil and fuel gauges work the same and are the same. Note the Auto Meter model 2177 gauge, it is merely a pressure gauge and is sold for use in either fuel or oil pressure.

Auto Meter 2177 Auto Meter 1-1/2'' Direct Mount Pressure Gauges

So the answer to the question is: yes, an oil pressure gauge will also read fuel pressure (and vice versa).

Of course in our usual applications, fuel pressure gauges are typically a lower scale (0 - 15 PSI) than oil pressure gauges (0 - 100 PSI).

22 yrs ase certified tech. the guages are very specific based on specific gravity, and viscosity has everything to do with it. call any shop and ask them you will not get an accurate reading at all. most f/i vehicles have a shraeder valve for testing the pressure and it is in the rail close to the injestors. what kind of car? yr ect? you can get a fp tester at any part store for 30$
TRUE.........Kids today are not so bright.......LOL

and this AUTO section always makes me laugh
