Will a aero ported enclosure tuned @55Hz hurt lows?

I'm looking at a couple different boxes for my Fi SSD and have pretty much narrowed it down to two. One box is around 3 cubes, has two 4" diameter aero ports 4" long but is tuned to 55Hz. The other is your standard ported enclosure, but only has 1.8 cubes and also comes with some polyfill "sheets" I guess you could say on the inside of the box. Which box is better for an spl design and would give me the best lows? Is there any way i could lower the tuning on the aero ported box? Thanks

You'd be best going off with a custom box design and enclosure. 55 hz tuning will sound terrible.

Both are terrible. 55hz is far too high tuning to play music and that other one doesn't look like a very efficient design at all. Of the two, if you're dead set on this, go with the smaller one because at least you probably won't break your sub.

Could lowe's cut all the MDF for me? The only reason I'm not designing and building my own box is because I don't have a table saw, only a hacksaw

get a cheapo skill saw and go to town on some boxes....

those aero ports are alot longer than 4"- look to be about 10" in a box of 17" depth.

i would guess its tuned to 40-42hz

In that case it tunes around 41Hz... still a little high for me. I just finished designing my own box with 2.5 cubes tuned @33Hz so I'm gonna go ahead and build that. It looks like a much better idea to build my own box anyways lol

When you put your boxes together do you use glue and screws or just glue and clamp? Also could i use the same caulk used on tiles to seal my box?
