I have a 2000 stratus with the stock 90 amp alternator. I know it only puts out 90 amps over 2000rpms. So its probably about 55-60 amps at idle. I have 2 kenwood subs that put out 400W rms and 1200W max each. I dont have an amp yet but i would like to probably get an amp that puts out about 1000W RMS at 2 ohms.
Would my 90 amp alternator be sufficient to power my amp and subs or will it be to much of a load and ruin the alternator quickly?
The only other thing i would be powering is a sony headunit and just the rest of the electronics that come stock with the car. lights etc...
I dont want to upgrade the alternator until at least spring when i have the cash for it.
So i just need to know if my 7 year old 90amp alternator be able to withstand the amp power?
Thanks
