Will a 2nd Batt. solve this?

The RIPS amps "mute" themselves when they run out of current. Something is going on somewhere cause you should be able to power it fine. Alt might be going out or the ground is bad. Start by setting the gains right then look at the resistance in the ground, then get the alt checked

All right thanks guys im bringing it into the shop tomorrow to have my grounds checked out as well as to get my gains properly set. Im going to print these pages out and let them see what yall are reccomending.

thanks everyone... have a feeling its a bad ground to the amp... pretty sure sheet metal was connecteed to it.... what yall think? Dont think its the ground to the battery bc before i did the big 3 it was doing the same thing and i know the ground is good under the hood.

thanks man... cannot tel u how frustrating it is when i really wanna slam my system when im with freinds and the amp cuts out like that... hopefully everything will be fine by tomorrow when i leave the shop

Car is in the shop now. They are going to check all of my grounds and wiring plus properly set my gains and amp settings. Will update when everything is done. Hopefully problem will be fixed.

I had the same problem with my brothers amp that is a jl 500.1 jx i found out that they go to protect mode because of weak current. I solve the problem by changing the gauge of the amp kit . Use a kicker 4 gauge to the amp and plus change the ground location. By doing this the amp never got heat up and never turn off again.

How can I get my alt checked? Bring it into a shop?

Did the shop fix it or mess it up worse?
The shop double checked my grounds and wiring to make sure everything had a tight connection. Also showed me how to set my gains which I did with a digi volt meter. I don't know what else could be a problem besides the alt but have no idea on how to tell.
