Will a 2nd Batt. solve this?

At pretty high volume levels when I have my bass turned up my system will cut off or severly drop in volume until I lower my volume knob and then it comes back on. This is only when my bass is turned up and at high volumes but it is becoming annoying.

I believe this is happening because my amp is going into protect mode when it is unable to pull enough voltage to power the sub. So my question is will adding a second battery solve this? I have already done the big 3 with 4 guage wire all around which was a big improvemnt from my stock wires. I have heard from a few people the the JL HD amps will go into protect mode when they stop receving proper voltage so im guessing that this is the problem.

Any help will be apprectiated. Thanks all

Yea sounds pretty serious...need to check ur voltage when this happens...how were ur gains set ? whats ur electrical consist of now?
have my gains turned pretty low. like barely up at all for my front and rear channel speakers and about 25% up on the sub channel. Do you think a 2nd batt would solve the voltage drops?

Yea they always do but ur problem might b more serious if amp is goin into protect..what kind of wiring do u have ? what kind of stock batt? big 3 done?

How is ur ground?

How big is the wire, and how many watts total are you running (all amps considered)?

Edit: Assuming you are using equipment in sig. How big is the wire? Are the subs configured correctly? Maybe the impedance is too low for the amp? Just throwin it out there.

Really not sure if its going into protect mode... It just drops my volume down a HUGE amount suddenly until i lower my volume knob. I did the big 3 with 4 gauge wire all around. Not sure what kind of wire brand i have i got it online from sonicelectronix. I upgraded by battery to an optima yellow top. Pretty sure my ground is good iv had 3 people check it out

Is the ground sanded to metal and secured sonewhere solid like frame or strut tower bolt ? not sheet metal...what impedance dovu have subs and front stage wired to? did it just start this or ongoing issue since install?

sub is wired at 2 ohms and the amp is supposed to be able to handle a sub on 1-4 ohms

ongoing since install. will check on the ground

Is the amp warm when this happens? really need to monitor the voltage when this happens
i dont have anything to check the voltage with... i may just need to bring it into a shop and have an installer look at everything

amp doesnt get too hot

Go pick up a dmm u can get a decent one for 20 bucks ...its a must in this hobby ..and buy urself a stinger digital volt meter and wire it to the amp ..they r life savers
