WIll 6.5s fit in a 2004 Sunfire?

I have a 2004 sunfire (Factory 4x6 up front) , is it possible to put 6.5s in the doors?

They are pretty deep Alpine type Rs. (SPR-176A)

I have already bought the adapter kit 82-3300 for them as FutureShop suggested would be the way to go.

3 Stores I visited, and one told me flat out no way, one told me with modifications, and futureshop told me no problem, all I need is that bracket.

Does anyone have any insight on this topic, or that can tell me for sure one way or another if they'll be able to fit in?

My appointment is for monday, but I still have my doubts.

u gotta open the door up and find out for urself. i had to make spacers for my old type-r's, but didnt have to mod the doors. whether or not the door needs modding, hard to say. some do, most dont tho. u'll need a spacer (bracket) thatll accomodate ur 6.5 into the 4x6 hole.

My friend has either a 99 or 2000 and he was able to do it. Mounted the speakers over the door planels with some mdf spacers.

x2... I made my 6.5's fit in 5.25 spots that had like 0 mounting depth with mdf spacers... I posted an explination and pics for someone once... search for adapter...

I want to know how that turns out. I have a 03 Cavalier which is basically the same car as the sunfire with 4x6 fronts also. Let me know how it goes cuz I want to upgrade to 6.5s also.
