wierd thing with my L7

i have my L7's wired 1 ohm to a crappy logitech amp gettin like mayby 3-4 watts , but heres the thing, i can totally max out every setting on the computer with bass and crank it up almost 100% volume playing test tones and it rattles the entire house , but then when i goto play some music and turn it up past say 1/4 i start to hear a sound of like someone flicking a styrofoam cup on the bottom , but then i can go right back to test tones and it dosent do it at all

what is this? when i had like 1300 watts going to them they never did this, is it just becuase its such a clipped signal its bottoming out? is it even possible to bottom out with like 5 watts?

Why are you even doing this?

I'm sure there's lots of things that can go wrong, this just sounds stupid

get a speaker that's intended to be powered by that amp
why not? what could go wrong? only thing i can think of is the little logitech amp shits out , but yea i think whats wrong is the amp is not good @ 1 ohm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif , with only 1 l7 hooked up @ 2 ohms i can wang it super hard without any negative effects, but as soon as it drops to 1 ohm bad things happen //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

You do realize that most home setups are 8 Ohm loads, whereas your car audio is 4 and down

I bet you anything that logitec amp is meant for 8 ohms and your trying to run it at 1, your going to kill the sub and the amp over something retarded

yea home audio and dj setups are all at 8 ohms....my friend is a dj. We hooked up his audiobahn sub at 1500 rms at 8 ohms and that thing was wangin. He has a quad 2 ohm sub so we wired it to 8 ohms

My guess would be that you're hearing the amp switching polarities, because it can't handle switching at that low of an impedance w/o noise.

Even with that little amount of power, your voice coils are going to take a beating, that's a lot of heat per stroke...

i had my 2 L5s wired to 8 ohms on a home stereo and wanged out only until i got my car. Why would you wire it to 1 ohm on home stereo? Both the amp and sub will be gone in a week or two if you keep it up buddy! Smart thinking!!

4 watts? Thats barely enough wattage to run that little speaker in your computer case that goes "beep". Let alone a 2000W subwoofer... What were you thinking? :p
