Wierd noise..Box to small???

When i turn up certain songs like "tell me when to go" by e-40 and have the hu at +3db at 60hz and sub at + 15 it makes a wierd popping sound like its hitting something idk if its bottoming out but im not sure if thats what it is. its like if u tapped the subwoofer without it on it makes that sound kinda..idk im having a hard time trying to describe the sound. the reason i asked if the box was too small because it seems like the bass hits get very slightly fainter when there are long notes. its hardly noticable

Setup i have is

PG RSd12d in a approximatley 1.8 cube box

powered by PG xenon 600.1

HU is some old Alpine HU ..not sure of model number

Anybody know what this noice i might be hearing is and possible how to fix it
