Whys my stuff clipping

Both my 12" L7's coils burned up... they were DVC 4ohm wired to 1ohm into a viper 1200.1d.... My gain was at just about half way... and my subwoofer controll on my alpine deck was at like 6 from 0-15... and i was only playing it at like volume lvl 22... why would they clip, and burn up?!

even if its half way up it can clip, set it to before it clips, which could be anywhere, like 1/8 of the way up even, so yeah you have to set it to where it doesnt clip...

thats th ghetto way to set the gains and can still harm your sub with setting them. Refer to the gains setting tutorial on the amps forums

methinks thats part of the problem too.

alpine's do not put out their 4V until the sub output is at +15. The problem is the gain setting on the amp.
