i see all these mad boxes everyone is makin, i got a wicked one(imo) im workin on in my xj now. but why in the hell does everyone rattle can the ports black yet never put carpet or anything fancy to the exo of the box? its not like it makes that bare wood box look so fricken sweet or something right? so i ask why and what is the purpose? cause if it really serves one, hell i might paint my ports too?!

thats gotta be the 12th most fagified thing i think i've ever read in my life! im a follower because im interested to know if paint in the port has a helpful function! so now if it really does help with the db's or makes less echo, or plays with your nuts while you bass out, either way if i do it cause it actually has a function IM a follower! good job dude!

ok this sounds like the most logical responce and most not smart *** remark, ill go with this answer, i could be wrong but i dont see how spray can would help db's other than maybe have a "glossy-smooth" path for the air to travle thus less resistance or change in harmonics that could be caused due to caulk, silicone, or poor craftsmanship!

are you asking if painting your ports will add DB's?

if im understanding your question ,people paint the port so that once its carpeted, it all matches and the port doesnt "stick out" at all. it basically matches the finish of the box.

people paint it cause it looks pretty as stated above.

also, carpet can be expensive when you put a box in that's only going to stay in for about 3 months. so some of us just don't bother with it.

thank you TEEN and FBI90909, those are perfectly good explanations to my ?! i just see everyone paintin ports like no tommorrow yet never carpet and only use it for comps thus making one wonder why paint a box not meant to be "pretty", i've never painted them, if i plan to use the box for sound and/or showing off then i uaually vinyl the box a little ways up the port and put in plastic inserts to "beautify" it to a degree! but i can see paint would be the cheaper route.
