Because they are attention *****s. That's all they care about. I built my system around me. What I liked, and my friend builds what other people will like:waycrazy:

Same reason 95% of the people out there fix up their cars. For attention. It makes them feel good about themselves when other people compliment them.

I try to understand the whole self fixation , but have yet to do so...

My friends thought I was crazy when I told them that I have no plans, for the time being, to run a sub, due to money constraints. When I told them what I spent the money on, they said I was crazy. But hey man, a 3 way front stage with kodas, WR125s and a large format tweeter is expensive.

Kids like that give us all a bad name! Im working on building my second system and I just purchased an amp and sub today (Arc 2500xxk and Alumapro Alchemy RX's). When I talking with the guy about subs I specifically told him that I do NOT want a sub that is going to be stupid loud and be like every other riced out civic that i see.

The first thing I used to do when I auditioned my system for someone was put on a nice SQ track to show off the imaging and overall tonality. sad but true, wen my friends want to see my system, the first thing they say is pop the trunk =T and wen my friends r getting systems, they get cheap *** subs and no name brand amps and call it a good system... i've tried explaining the whole music as a whole, highs mids lows, and they just look at me blankly... so i've kinda given up, i'll let them waste their money on subs with stock everything else...

my friends are exactly the same way.......he just got a 15 in the BED of his ranger and his stock speakers are crackling and distorting, i told him he needed to replace them and he was like "do you really think so? I thought they sounded good"......wtf

Let's face it, noone but us can actually *hear* sound quality.

Here's another example:

My rival's bronco:

* those infamous bandpassed Dual 12s w/ Matching Dual amp

* Entry Level kenwood 12s on a GS (No name?) amp (it's a nice amp..)

* Roadmaster 6x9s mounted in the REAR on top of the subs

* Pyramid Gold 4" midrange component speakers in doors. The seperate tweeters were NOT included. Which makes me sad because when I listened to this set, I liked them.

Long story short, he's got the subs crossed over at roughly 150hz, so you're looking at wet fart bass, midbass to match, clear mids that you can not hear because the Roadmasters are louder, and no highs. He pops in a Skinny Puppy album I burned for him, and he's not even aware it has vocals...

im into music for the experience, i think when people go for the beats its more of an attention thing. I wanna feel like im right there, so most my power goes to my mids and highs

I listen to music only for the lyrics. When I get in friends' cars and I can't hear a word. I get out and walk where I am going. I love music more than car audio. When I bought Infinity speakers + amp for them.. I had many people say I was dumb and "Infinity has horrible bass. why an amp just for speakers? That's the biggest waste of money ever... why spend all that if your system doesn't pound?" No my system does not pound and it may never pound like people want it to. I do it for myself. And I am aware there are even better speakers an things I could do for my own pleasure but what I have is for me and nobody else. If you need your car to make you popular then have fun hearing "BUMP...BUMP"... and no words, and some rattle

as a fellow teen...i would be lying if i told u guys that sometimes i didn't want to show off...but for the most part...my car audio system was built for my tastes and on my budget...im not an audiophile by anymeans so i didn't need super SQ....but its always nice to pull up next to some guy who thinks hes the shit and out-wang his system....i guess its a teen thing...

agreed. I love heavy bass for a few minutes, just to see people in my car cringe when a 30hz tone rips through their chest and can be heard clearly outside the car at long distances. But when I listen to anything for more than a minute, I turn it way down to a reasonable level and my friends are always like wtf man?!?! I just roll my eyes.
