Superstition is bad luck
....and not want bump?

My son's best friend asked me that last night. In his blazer, he put in two 12" Kicker Solo Barics and threw an orion 2500d on the set. He left the coax premier 6.5's in the doors and has a pair of ND25 kicker tweets on the sill to be run off the HU. All I hear is tsstssstssstssstssstsssbooooooooom tsstsstsstsstsstsstsstsstssboooooooom.

I told him that my system is more about total sound. The dance of melodies that intertwine with each other. I mentioned that bass, although good, is only part of the full music experience. That bass only ties in where the other frequencies fade off. I had him listen to one of my all time favorite cd's, one I used back in the early '90's for stereo demo's....Fresh Aire 3..."Toccata"

He listened to it and said these things...the bass is LOUD! The drums sound good but the Bass is loud!!!

Have I been gone from the caraudio world that bass is king now and sound quality fell by the wayside???

Joe

Yes, kids these days will throw a couple 12's in their car and not even mess with the mids and highs not only first, but not even lastly. Ill tell people that I have my components on an amp and they think im //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif kids these days

One of my younger coworkers wanted a switch to turn off his subs when he didn't want to get loud. He didn't even know they were supposed to play a specific part of the music that his interior speaker couldn't play. I never understood the stock speakers with 1kw and 2 12s in the trunk.

Sadly I think most people into car audio are way more into bass. I am a high school guidance counselor. I talk to many kids about car audio, and the first thing they will ask is "what subs do you run, and how much power." I explain to them that I actually prefer to listen to MUSIC and want a great sounding system PERIOD.

They hear my car(with my 1 12" sub and a 500/1) and immediately say "wow, I want my car to sound like this."

There is more to car audio than how loud something can get, at least in my opinion.

my point exactly. I believe that a sound system should be able to play music as it was recorded, from Telarc to two live crew.

For my ears, the Telarc CD's will do just fine. I like the Rippingtons, a solid Jazz group with just the right amount of highs, mids, midbass and bass. Actually the midbass steals the show. VERY tight!

I like a Jazz band named Palomino Duck. Kinda progressive jazz, lots of synthesizers but great overall sound. Any of the Mannheim Steamroller music or ***** Siberian Orchestra around the holidays. Awesome music. I am hoping to get kids involved in the music rather than the bass.

I have several Rippingtons cds. "Live in LA" is always great for showing off what a nice system can sound like. Well, any GRP recording is excellent.

i'm only 16 and yes i wanted big bass at first when i knew nothing about car audio. i later learned about comps, amps and put together a nice first set up (in my sig). I think that many "kids" my friends just want loud bass so they can show off when they are going by ppl since bass can be heard out of a car the most.

yweea... im 17 and am now getting more into car audio. i know now that components make a big difference, and am actually lookinf for some. i need something to compliment the XXX //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Loud is fun; I dig the sensation more than the thought that someone else can hear it.

I like feeling the world move around me. Sure, it's a neat show-off thing, but I find the vibration soothing, and that's more interesting to me than an annoyed passerby.

I only turn my system up on the freeway; I'm not disturbing anyone, and there's less chance of missing an emergency vehicle, etc.

When I'm driving around town, it stays on volume ten. If I turn it up, I trim the sub down. No rattling, not invading others' listening spaces and musical stages.

On the freeway? You can bet it's on 27.

I made a sincere effort to repair the terrible install performed by my local shop in the doors; It needs more work, but still sounds good enough for me to enjoy some trance, or a breakbeat session.

put down all your windows, get some nice horns, put some ear plugs in then play a 1khz sine wave really really loud, I bet people could hear it most out of a car. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Not every one of us in the under-20 crowd is stupid and ignorant...it just overwhelmingly seems that way. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Hell, I'll listen to "Carol of the Bells" in July //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif TSO is good stuff.
