WHY would it blow Solo Baric L7???

If you have a high end unit with at least 4V preouts, why would you have your gain on your amp almost all the way up? Mine is set at half way and when I crank it up around 20 or so it is LOUD as hell.

to the guy that says they aren't a good sub for an extended period of time i think it is very possible to be your setup. my buddy with 4 L7 12"s in his Tahoe SS has 8 kx1200.1's for comps and 4 for daily. he has had this setup since last may so for 11 months now and only blown 3 subs. 2 of them were due to 1 me stepping in the back to put in 2 of the 4 amps and hitting the cone with the drill and putting a big *** hole in the cone the other one i blew was b/c we were dicking around one day putting them in and i got bumped and dropped a sub on the floor where there happened to be a big ole sonic cup from lunch so it got all wet. the other one that blew was due to too much power but at comps he runs about 2800rms per sub and sometimes yeah they get pissed. oh and i destroyed a pair of M6 12"s when i had my old MA audio amp and single L5 15" back in the day not to mention he was driving his with over 300 more watts than i was and had a pair of subs.

I've got my gains up so high because the power handling of my sub. To hit full excursion in my box takes quite a bit of power. If i set the gains to match the 4v pre-outs I'd have to crank the music to around 35 to reach my current level of bass. Right now i can almost hit max excursion (right before reaching distortion) at about 25 depending on the song.

The RMS rating on the XXX is 1600 watts, ..take into adjustment my large sealed box, and it probably needs around 1kw to reach x-max. W/my gains at about 2/3's that's what I'm getting of the 1200.1.

and when you fry that sub b/c jbl is clip happy and distortion pumped don't whine about it man. having an unstable amp IMO at 2/3 gain is stupid if you blow that sub you know why. beside's if you ahve any kind of eq just adjust the 50hz level on it or lower if you have a lower setting to +-0 or +1 or 2.

Well i just got my 2nd L5 and i am only running about 600 or so watts to each sub. They hit hard shakes the hell out of my car. They are in a sealed box. The amp i am using is a bd1000.1. My gain is up about halfway. I mostly use the bass on my deck and never use my remote gain. I think l5 and l7 are really good subs. IMO

1) Read your manual

2) Read your manual

3) Read your manual

4) If you're too lazy to read your manual, I'll just state what you should have read in 5

5) L7s and L5s need a sufficient BREAK IN period before you can give them full power (Which you were giving

them way over recommended anyways !!!)

I did break in the seonc one, going extremely easy on it but then it went after 3 weeks. I really starting to think it was the amp. BUt I feel the electrrics may have had a hand in this
