i just don't get how a pair of 60 rms speakers can sound better than a pair of 100 rms speakers. (CDT vs. Pioneer in this case). Is there something i am missing here?

Just because the rms rating is different is not a way to tell whether one speaker set is automatically better than another set. You need to do more research before you make post like that.

i'm guessing that the alpine's have a high power rating, but they could sound like shit when they get closer to their rated power. But what can i look for if i want a good, clean and loud set of comps then?

i know rms doesn't exactly make a speaker sound good but, can you please tell me a loud set of comps between 100-150 bucks that i could get? I want them to sound good and get loud at the same time.

i'm even willing to spend 250 if i have to

because i can't test them out in my car without shaving my doors cuz they won't fit. Plus, people keep telling me they sound decent at best.

I have only heard them in my sisters car since they fit in there. I thought they sounded good, but it wasn't my setup, so i had no way of knowing what they really sound like in my car.

I don't want to shave the door's just yet if i can get a better speaker

it doesn't matter. you can't tell the diff because you're tone deaf, so just stick w/ stock speakers and save money and get out of this hobby, so you can stop asking stupid questions.
