A friend of mine wants me to install some bump in his truck but there is absolutely no space for anything. It's a 2004 toyota tacoma double cab. I was looking around to see if anyone had done any installs with these and the only thing i found was a box for two 8s behind the rear seat but the max mounting depth is 3 7/8s with max volume of .35 per chamber. Anyone know some good 8s that will fit and still have some good thump to them?? All i can find are the CDT ef-8s but they dont show how much air space is reccomended. Anyone do an install on a truck like this?? I was thinkin of buildin a box for an 8 under each seat but not sure if there's enough room. Any suggestions??

use 1/2" mdf for one. that will gain u some volume if u was originally planning on 3/4". and might land u a bit more mounting depth.

cdt's are good 8's. L5's would be a good choice if u have the depth. re 8's are highly thought of, i'll know more about those, at least in h/t, later. memphis mclass 8's are a good choice. i believe next 8's would work as well...

under the seat? hmmm, i think it could be done, but if u can get .35ft^3 per driver sealed behind the seat, i'd do that. that's usually plenty for an 8. probably won't be the loudest thing around, but i'd wager it'll still rock quite nicely.

I don't know how the Tacoma double Cab is laid out, but look at the center console if you don't have a bench seat up front. I am currently designing a replacement console for my chevy suburban and found that it has a lot of room. I am putting a 10" sub, with space for a dvd player and monitor in it. I can still fit about 1^3ft of storage space in it as well. Amazing how much room they can afford.

Are you sure you can only get about 4" on the depth? What if you face the subs a different dirrection?

I belive the re8 would fit in that depth and sealed will sound decent in that air volume. If you can figure a way to get more depth then your option increase 10 fold.

There are many ways to get a sub in a vechial that you would have thought not posible.

People sometimes build boxes and put them in the middle section in the front under the dash (the bump in the middle of your car....) I did that for a friend... fit nice... looked good... and got loud.

Well i have a 2007 tacoma double cab and the only solution i found for good thump is a powered sub, because of the space limits but then again you can also cut through that crummy plastic behind the seat and gain some space or just take it out all together and build the box right behind the back seat have seen it done a few times looks good and hidden from prying eyes, they will think it's just the doors pumping all that out........just my 2 cents here
