Why do my subs hate some songs?

Well I have 2 sundown sa8s with a saz 1500-d givingthem each about 450 rms. They used to bang so loud when I got them, and now they seem to have lost their life already. Anyways, that isn't my problem. Some songs with really low deep bass make my subs sound like a flapping noise or bottoming out. Not like a clanging noise more like a deep flapping noise. Anyways, I never really messed with any knobs except the gain. Will the subsonic filter and the other filters make my subs more musical and play more notes? The box is ported and built by vitveet and it is tuned for 34hz. THANKS!

Sounds like your playing well below your tuning....what is your subsonic and low pass set at?

it will stop the flapping and make them sound better. but you will not play more notes. just stop playing the super low notes that your box is incapable of playing correctly.

are you sure your only putting ~450 to each and also that your not clipping?

have you had the subs out of the box to check if anything has been damaged or not?

what?? you need to turn that up to about 80 and turn your subsonic up to around 32-34hz.

i agree on the lpf, but i would put the ssf around 25. or just above the point where the subs start to bottom, what ever that may be.

for the most part u can set the subsonic 5 less then the box tunning and b ok. the lpf u gota bump that up to 80

ill check it out tomorrow and test it on the drive. I just wish they were as loud as they were when I got them. As for clipping, I doubt it. The amp will do over 1500 rms with ease. Next warm day I'll retune with my dmm. What test tone do you guys recommend? the first time I did it I did it with a 50hz 0db

I just use my eyes/ears...never tuned with a DMM and have never blown a single thing either.

I turned lpf up to 80 and subsonic up to 35 and man is it 1000 times better, gonna tune it by ear next time I get a chance but instantly when turning up the lpf it sounds so much better. Thanks a lot

Not sure what your box is tuned at, but I have mine tuned to 33Hz with the subsonic set somewhere around 25Hz and it sounds great. Still hits the lows perfectly.
