Why put subs up side down???

Its not 100% cosmetics.. Many do it because they do not want to make a very large box. So they inverse the driver and boom, no more driver displacement and you have an added 1/4 cube or so for your enclosure (depending on driver.)

 
mostly for looks, I mean, it was a shame to jam my Iridium's shiny machined magnet, and cast frame into a fiberglass box, never to be seen again...of course if I did it the other way I would look like a complete douchebag.

 
Sounds the same. People just do it because some subwoofers have cool magnets or designs like for example Audiobahns subwoofer. They have some that have flames and some people think thats cool so they put it upside down to show it off.
