Thanks for the thought, but I sold them this morning, right after I recommended them. They're on their way to Cali. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/woot.gif.aaa6090e619a97b6090d16dd863c5a69.gifclick the link //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

yeah, i know the idq8's are hard to find. you found mine, didn't you? soo, your recommending an 8' paired up with a midrange? plus the horns? do the xxx mids have a deep mounting depth like the idq8's?I have four IDQ8's Im planning on mating to my horns (plus mids). Alot of people who hnave run horn setups have switched over to 3-way system. Not many 8's like playing up to the 1khz range well while still producing solid midbass. Not to mention, running 2-way means not being able to change polarity of midbass while leaving midrange alone... a common practice in these setups.
Ive considered going away from my IDQ's for RE xxx mids. The xxx's can severely outdisplace the IDQ's, and are easier to find. If I didnt already have my four IDQ8's, Id be running four xxx's.
so what makes you think i don't know what sound quality is? you think because i listen to metal that i wouldn't know what sound quality is. i also listen to tom waits, portise head, king crimson, floyd, and classical.whatever you say.
sq has a meaning that you dont quite comphrend. sql has nothing to do with sq.
being loud has nothing to do with sound quality - therefore - there is no such things as sql, it should be more like ddl.
and i would not put passive crossovers - or anything lower than 24db\oct crossovers if i had a mind. i use a 12db\oct for a while because thats all i had at the time - and i had to cross them at like 1.5k.
it just seems to me like you think they are going to be magical and just be loud and sound good instantly. i guess my definition of sound good is much different then yours.
i just dont recommend horns to people who do not understand them.
